Nestled in Southeast Appalachia is little old Athens, Ohio; home of Ohio University. In a town full of mom-and-pop shops, maybe you’re looking for something with a little more consistency but isn’t one of the stereotypical commercial restaurants? Well, you’re in luck! There’s quite a few that are perfect for stoners.
D.P. Dough

D.P. Dough is a smaller chained restaurant that is geared more toward college towns where there are lots of late-night munchers. They have every kind of calzone that they could imagine. Can you think of a more bizarre calzone? No worries! They have a construction zone, to create your own concoction. All their calzones and sides are less than $8, making it a very affordable dinner or second dinner. They have a larger parking lot, making for an easy pick up, along with delivery options for even more convenience. Perfect timing to roll up a fattie and smoke up an appetite.
Donato’s Pizza

If you’ve ever had Donato’s, you know how crispy and delicious their pizza is. For those of you who have never had it, you’re most definitely missing out and need to check them out. Their thin style crust gives the perfect crunch when biting into a piece of their square cut pizza. Although it is a little more expensive, the quality and flavor is 100% there. With a drive thru pick-up window and delivery options, this is one of my favorite go-to options for chain pizza in Athens, Ohio.
Big Mama’s Burritos

My third recommendation of chain restaurants that stoners have to check out is Big Mama’s Burritos. Big Mama’s has late hours and delivery options make it ideal for those on a nocturnal schedule. They have 2 size options, regular or “baby”. The baby is less than $5, more of a snack size (or if you’re like me, getting 2 different varieties) whereas the regular size is comparable to a Chipotle burrito but cheaper (closer to $7)! Wanna work on that crossfade? Big Mama’s got you covered – this location sells beer in a connecting store, and are willing to deliver it with your burrito!
Although there’s so many good options in Athens, be it mom-and-pops, big name chains, or local chains, I hope this article help you sift through your options during your time of munchie. Bon(g) Appetite!
